This could help agencies determine whether people meet eligibility requirements or qualify for exemptions without repeatedly asking them to provide additional documents. The approach could be particularly useful because administrative and documentation difficulties have previously caused some eligible people to lose coverage.
AI could also improve the way government agencies interact with citizens. AI-powered assistants embedded in Medicaid websites could explain requirements, answer questions, and help applicants understand which documents they need. Agencies could additionally analyze anonymized call-center transcripts, help-desk messages, and website activity to identify recurring problems and adjust outreach or support programs in near real time.
