Andhra Pradesh has emerged as India’s leading state in AI and Big Data Analytics (BDA) skilling under the central government’s FutureSkills PRIME programme. According to data from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), 1,08,895 candidates in the state have completed certification in AI and BDA, placing Andhra Pradesh ahead of other states in the programme.
The achievement is part of a much larger technology-skilling effort. More than 1.5 lakh candidates in Andhra Pradesh have been enrolled or trained in AI and BDA over the past three years, according to government data cited by Business Standard. The programme is designed to build skills in emerging technologies and create a workforce capable of meeting the changing requirements of India's digital economy.
The numbers are particularly significant as AI begins to reshape the employment and skills landscape. Businesses increasingly need workers who can combine traditional technical knowledge with capabilities in AI, data analytics and automation. Andhra Pradesh's large certified talent pool could therefore give the state an advantage in attracting technology companies, expanding digital services and developing AI-enabled businesses. The initiative also complements India's broader national push to expand AI literacy and workforce readiness.
