Iran Invites Islamic Countries to Join Forces to Develop Artificial Intelligence

Iran has invited Islamic countries to collaborate on developing artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to strengthen their position in the global AI market. This proposal was made by Iranian First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref at the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the OIC-15 Dialogue Platform in Tehran.

The Iranian government has put forth a plan to establish a high-level steering group that would serve as a permanent coordinating body to develop unified policies, analyze global trends and oversee AI initiatives among member countries. A common roadmap for AI development would be built, covering strategic areas like healthcare, agriculture, fintech and government.

Additionally, Iran proposes the creation of a network of research and academic centers, where universities and research institutes would form a consortium for joint research projects, technology exchange, human resources and educational programs in AI. Joint funding mechanisms would also be established, leveraging the Islamic Development Bank, government funds and private capital to support breakthrough projects and tech startups.

Furthermore, Iran suggests defining an Islamic ethical charter for AI, which would outline moral and legal frameworks for AI use, considering Islamic values, user rights protection, transparency and social justice. This initiative seeks to promote cooperation and development among Islamic countries in the field of AI, enabling them to harness its potential for economic and social growth.
