Ministry of Ayush and IndiaAI Partner to Advance AI in Traditional Medicine

The Ministry of Ayush and the IndiaAI Mission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence across India's traditional medicine ecosystem. The partnership aims to integrate AI into Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy (AYUSH) by promoting research, innovation, and digital healthcare solutions. The initiative is expected to strengthen evidence-based traditional medicine while improving healthcare delivery and accessibility across the country.

Under the collaboration, the two organizations will work on developing AI-powered applications for clinical decision support, disease prediction, personalized treatment recommendations, drug discovery, and the analysis of traditional medical knowledge. The partnership will also leverage digital platforms such as the Ayush Grid and other AI-enabled health initiatives to create secure datasets, improve interoperability, and support researchers, startups, and healthcare professionals.

The initiative aligns with the Government of India's broader vision of building a responsible and inclusive AI ecosystem through the IndiaAI Mission. By combining AI capabilities with centuries-old traditional medical knowledge, the collaboration seeks to modernize AYUSH systems while preserving their scientific and cultural foundations. Officials believe AI can help enhance diagnostic accuracy, optimize treatment planning, and expand access to quality healthcare, particularly in underserved regions.

Beyond healthcare delivery, the MoU is expected to encourage innovation, capacity building, and entrepreneurship in AI-driven traditional medicine. The partnership will support research institutions, startups, and industry stakeholders in developing scalable solutions while ensuring ethical and responsible AI deployment. As India continues to invest in digital public infrastructure and AI innovation, the collaboration represents a significant step toward positioning traditional medicine as a key component of the country's technology-enabled healthcare future.
