AI adoption has become nearly universal across enterprises, very few organizations believe they are fully prepared to scale it effectively. According to the report, 97% of companies now have active AI initiatives, but only 5% say their data infrastructure is ready to support enterprise-wide AI deployment reliably.
The findings suggest that many businesses are moving aggressively into AI experimentation without solving underlying data problems. Companies reported major obstacles including limited access to quality data, privacy and compliance risks, fragmented systems, poor integration across platforms, and shortages of skilled AI professionals. Experts say these weaknesses become especially serious when organizations try moving from small pilot projects into real operational workflows.
Despite the challenges, businesses continue increasing AI investment. More than half of surveyed organizations plan to expand AI spending over the next year, while many are already reporting early productivity gains in areas such as customer research, onboarding, compliance, risk analysis, workflow automation, and sales operations. However, analysts note that most companies are still struggling to convert isolated AI successes into scalable enterprise systems with measurable long-term returns.
Industry experts increasingly argue that data readiness — rather than AI models themselves — has become the biggest bottleneck in enterprise AI adoption. Researchers and technology leaders warn that messy, disconnected, and poorly governed data environments make it difficult for AI systems to produce trustworthy and consistent outputs. As companies adopt more advanced autonomous AI agents, demand for reliable infrastructure, governance, and human oversight is expected to grow significantly.
