India's technology services industry will continue to play a vital role in the age of artificial intelligence, according to discussions at the Nasscom US CEO Forum. Industry leaders emphasized that AI is transforming the way IT services are delivered, but it is not replacing the need for technology service providers. Instead, AI is creating new opportunities for companies to help clients adopt, integrate, and manage AI solutions at scale.
The forum highlighted that enterprise AI adoption is moving beyond experimental pilot projects into large-scale production deployments. This shift is expected to create a global AI services market worth an estimated $300–400 billion, offering significant growth opportunities for Indian IT firms with expertise in consulting, implementation, and AI-driven digital transformation.
Industry executives also stressed that the role of technology professionals is evolving rather than disappearing. As AI automates routine tasks, demand is expected to increase for skills in AI engineering, data management, cybersecurity, cloud computing, governance, and business consulting. Success will depend on continuous reskilling and the ability to combine AI capabilities with deep industry expertise.
The discussions concluded that AI should be viewed as an amplifier of the technology services sector rather than a disruption to it. By embracing AI-first strategies, investing in talent development, and partnering with global enterprises, Indian IT companies are well positioned to remain central to the next phase of digital transformation and maintain their competitiveness in the global technology landscape.
