Telangana CM Proposes Committee on Use of AI in Education

The Chief Minister of A. Revanth Reddy has proposed forming a high-level committee to guide the use of artificial intelligence in the education system. The idea emerged during discussions with Raghuram Rajan, who was asked to help design a structured approach for integrating AI into curricula across primary, secondary, technical, and medical education.

The initiative reflects a broader push to modernize education and align it with future job requirements. The state government is already working on establishing a Skills University and Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) to prepare students for middle-level jobs, with AI expected to play a central role in both learning and skill development.

Rajan emphasized that AI can be highly beneficial if implemented thoughtfully and systematically. He also highlighted that improving skills across sectors can open up new employment opportunities, while supportive policies—such as ease of doing business and startup encouragement—can attract further investment and innovation.

Overall, the proposal signals Telangana’s intent to proactively adapt its education system for an AI-driven future. By bringing expert guidance into policymaking, the state aims to ensure that AI is used effectively in classrooms while also supporting long-term economic growth and workforce readiness.
