London-based AI infrastructure company Nscale is expanding its U.S. presence by establishing a new engineering headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. The company has leased nearly 24,000 square feet in The Eight office tower, with the facility scheduled to open in January 2027. The new office will serve as Nscale's primary U.S. engineering hub, growing its Seattle-area workforce from about 50 employees today to as many as 250.
The expansion follows Nscale's recent $2 billion fundraising round and a $900 million line of credit, fueling its rapid growth in AI infrastructure. Earlier this year, the company recruited former Microsoft executive Nidhi Chappell, who previously led Azure AI and high-performance computing infrastructure, as president of AI infrastructure. She will oversee Nscale's global engineering and data centre operations from the Seattle area.
Nscale said it selected Bellevue because of the region's deep AI engineering talent pool and its proximity to major technology customers such as Microsoft. The company has also expanded its collaboration with Microsoft to deploy next-generation NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPU infrastructure across Europe, making Nscale one of the first providers outside Microsoft to offer the new AI computing platform.
The announcement further reinforces Bellevue's emergence as a major AI infrastructure hub. Companies including OpenAI, xAI, Databricks, CoreWeave, Anduril, and Anthropic have all expanded their presence in the region, creating intense competition for AI engineering talent as demand for cloud computing and AI infrastructure continues to accelerate.
