According to recent reports, Indian studios are using AI tools to generate mythological scenes, create digital characters, and even produce full-fledged films. This shift is helping filmmakers respond to shrinking budgets and changing audience habits, especially with the rise of streaming platforms.
One of the biggest advantages of AI in Bollywood is cost and time reduction. Industry experts report that AI can reduce production costs to nearly one-fifth of traditional filmmaking expenses and cut production timelines by almost 75%. Tasks such as visual effects, dubbing, lip-sync correction, and scene enhancement are now being completed much faster. This makes AI especially useful for large-scale genres like mythology and fantasy, where production is usually expensive.
AI is also changing how films reach India’s diverse language markets. Since India has 22 official languages and hundreds of dialects, dubbing is essential for nationwide success. New AI-powered dubbing tools can synchronize lip movements with translated audio, making movies appear naturally spoken in different languages. This improves audience experience and allows films to expand into multiple regional markets more efficiently.
However, this transformation has also raised concerns about creativity and artistic integrity. Some actors and filmmakers have criticized AI-altered endings and digitally modified performances, arguing that such changes can remove the emotional essence of cinema.
