US Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jacob Helberg said that artificial intelligence will serve as one of the most important drivers of global prosperity for the coming decades. Speaking at the Pax Silica Summit, he emphasized that AI is not just a technological shift but a foundational force reshaping economies, industries, and international cooperation.
Helberg highlighted that the Pax Silica initiative is designed to strengthen collaboration among trusted partner nations by building secure and resilient supply chains for critical technologies such as semiconductors, AI infrastructure, and critical minerals. He stressed that economic security and national security are now deeply connected, and countries must work together to reduce vulnerabilities in global tech systems.
He also pointed to India’s growing role in this ecosystem, noting its strong talent base, expanding manufacturing capabilities, and strategic importance in global technology networks. According to him, partnerships like Pax Silica are meant to ensure that innovation and AI development are supported by stable, diversified, and trusted supply chains rather than overdependence on any single region.
The remarks were made during the broader context of the India AI Impact Summit, where global leaders gathered to discuss AI governance, innovation, and cooperation. Helberg’s comments reflect the United States’ push to deepen technology alliances while positioning AI as a central pillar of long-term economic growth and geopolitical strategy.
