The article explains that Anthropic has upgraded Claude’s offering for financial-services firms by introducing new tools designed for live market data integration and direct workflow automation. These enhancements are aimed at analysts, bankers and asset managers rather than general-purpose use.
Key among the updates is the release of a sidebar add-in for Microsoft Excel (in beta) which allows financial professionals to chat with Claude while the model reads, analyses, modifies and even builds spreadsheet workbooks in real time—debugging formulas, preserving dependencies and tracing every change.
In addition to the Excel integration, Claude now connects to a variety of proprietary data sources such as real-time earnings-call transcripts, credit ratings, fund performance across private markets, and macro-economic indicators via new “connectors” from providers like LSEG, Moody’s Investors Service, Egnyte and others.
Finally, Anthropic has introduced new “Agent Skills” for finance workflows: pre-built modules for tasks such as discounted cash-flow modelling, comparable-company analysis, due-diligence data packs, earnings-summaries and initiating-coverage reports. These are intended to accelerate common analyst workflows by embedding more domain-specific logic into Claude.
