Argentine President Javier Milei has launched an ambitious plan to transform Argentina into a global hub for artificial intelligence (AI), leveraging nuclear energy to power data centers. The initiative, led by Demian Reidel, aims to make Argentina the fourth global AI hub, following China, Europe, and the United States.
Milei announced the plan, highlighting Argentina's favorable conditions for AI development, including abundant energy resources, suitable land and climate for data centers, and a skilled workforce. The government plans to implement a favorable regulatory environment to attract foreign investment and promote innovation in AI.
The plan includes establishing six data centers in the Patagonia region, which would be powered by nuclear energy. This move is expected to attract significant investment, potentially from tech giants like Elon Musk, and create thousands of jobs. Argentina's AI sector is still developing, but the country has a strong foundation in software development, which could support the growth of the industry.
