The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is set to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to crack down on property tax evaders in Bengaluru. The civic body aims to increase tax revenue and improve its services through the use of technology.
As part of its efforts, the BBMP will introduce doorstep delivery of khata certificates, which are essential documents for property owners, from April. This move is expected to reduce the need for property owners to visit BBMP offices, saving them time and effort.
The BBMP will also use AI-powered algorithms to identify and track property tax defaulters. The system will analyze data on property ownership, tax payments, and other relevant information to identify cases of tax evasion.
By leveraging AI and other digital technologies, the BBMP aims to improve its tax collection efficiency, reduce corruption, and provide better services to citizens. The initiative is part of the civic body's efforts to transform Bengaluru into a smart city.
