A recent report by JPMorgan reveals that many extremely wealthy individuals are using artificial intelligence in surprisingly trivial or even bizarre ways—raising eyebrows and questions about their judgment. According to the report, 79% of billionaires said they use AI in their personal lives, and 69% use it for business. Yet some of their use-cases read more like sci-fi fantasies than sound investments.
For instance, one billionaire claimed to be using AI to design a blueprint for a plane they want to build—despite the fact that generative AI often “hallucinates” and struggles with technical accuracy. Another reportedly uses it to write customized bedtime stories for their child, complete with emotional twists, instead of commissioning an actual author.
Perhaps the most surreal revelation is that one family is working with an AI team to create holograms of their elder members for future generations—almost as if they’re trying to digitally immortalize them. These anecdotes suggest that even people with ample resources may be overestimating what current AI tech can actually do.
On the flip side, not every billionaire is all in. Some admit to avoiding AI in their daily lives, preferring to rely on intuition or manual methods instead. A few even dismissed the idea of artificial general intelligence (AGI) as a completely misguided concept.
