Center for Teaching and Learning Conversation About Generative Artificial Intelligence

The Center for Teaching and Learning at Marquette University is hosting a conversation about generative artificial intelligence. Dr. Abram Capone, a teaching assistant professor of philosophy in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences and CTL faculty teaching fellow, will lead the discussion on October 9 at 12:30 p.m. in the 707 Building room 330B.

The conversation aims to explore the impact of generative AI on education and vocations, emphasizing the value of a Jesuit education for personal formation and social justice. Teachers are encouraged to communicate early and often with their students about generative AI policies and its potential effects on their educations.

Generative AI is transforming the educational landscape by offering new opportunities and challenges in teaching and learning. It can personalize educational content, democratize knowledge access, and foster digital competencies development. However, concerns arise regarding academic integrity, critical thinking, and student mental health.

By attending this conversation, educators can gain insights into harnessing the potential of generative AI while ensuring responsible and effective use in teaching and learning practices.
