Deutsche Telekom's CEO, Tim Höttges, is urging the incoming German government and Europe to invest in artificial intelligence (AI) and data centers to stay competitive with the US and Asia. Höttges emphasized the importance of AI, stating it's "here to stay" and will play a crucial role in Deutsche Telekom's growth strategy.
The company plans to accelerate growth through the systematic use of AI and global economies of scale. Höttges announced new financial targets, including an average annual growth rate of 4% in net revenue and service revenues through 2027.
Deutsche Telekom is already investing heavily in AI, with over 400 projects currently underway. The company expects AI to enhance customer experience, optimize quality, and increase productivity by up to 50% for routine tasks.
Höttges also stressed the need for Europe to develop its own data centers, citing security concerns and the need for sovereignty in the digital age. He emphasized that Deutsche Telekom is committed to contributing to this effort, with plans to build more data centers in Europe.
