Film World Must Not Resist Artificial Intelligence, Says Demi Moore

Hollywood actor Demi Moore has urged the film industry to stop resisting artificial intelligence and instead learn how to work with it. Speaking at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival press conference as a jury member, Moore said fighting AI is “a battle that we will lose,” emphasizing that the technology is already becoming deeply integrated into filmmaking and entertainment.

Moore acknowledged growing concerns about AI’s impact on actors, writers, and creative professionals, especially around regulation and artistic protection. However, she argued that collaboration with AI could be more productive than outright opposition. At the same time, she stressed that technology cannot replace the “human soul and spirit” that define genuine artistic expression and storytelling.

Artificial intelligence has become one of the biggest discussion points across the global entertainment industry in recent years. Film studios, streaming platforms, and awards organizations are increasingly adapting rules around AI-generated content and performances. Recent debates in Hollywood have focused on deepfakes, digital replicas, AI-assisted screenwriting, and the use of generative AI in visual effects and production workflows.

Moore’s remarks reflect a broader divide within the entertainment industry over how AI should be managed. While some artists warn that AI threatens jobs and creativity, others believe the technology could become a valuable production tool if properly regulated. The discussion is expected to remain central at Cannes and across the wider film industry as AI adoption continues to expand in global cinema and media production.
