Google Expands AI-Powered Search Features with AI Mode and AI Overviews

Google is taking its AI game to the next level with the expansion of AI Overviews and the introduction of AI Mode in Search. AI Overviews, which provide a concise summary of information from multiple sources, are now available to over a billion people and will be rolling out to more users, languages, and regions over time.

The new AI Mode, currently in experimental phase, uses a custom version of Gemini 2.0 to provide more advanced reasoning, thinking, and multimodal capabilities. This means you can ask complex, multi-part questions and get helpful AI-powered responses with links to learn more.

For instance, you can ask AI Mode to compare sleep tracking features between different devices, and it'll provide a detailed response with relevant web links. This feature is initially available to Google One AI Premium subscribers who receive an invitation.

Google's AI Overviews are also getting an upgrade, with the ability to provide faster and higher-quality responses, especially for harder questions like coding, advanced math, and multimodal queries. Additionally, AI Overviews will soon be available to teens, and users will no longer need to sign in to access them.

These updates are part of Google's efforts to reimagine Search and make it more intuitive and helpful. With AI Mode and AI Overviews, Google aims to provide users with more accurate and relevant information, and make Search more conversational and interactive.
