Google is following in Microsoft's footsteps by raising prices for its Workspace productivity suite, while also bundling in AI features. This move is part of a broader effort to boost the adoption of AI tools among business users. Google's Workspace suite will now include the full Gemini feature set, which was previously only available as an add-on priced at $20 per user per month.
The updated pricing for Google Workspace will be $2 more per user per month for Business and Enterprise subscriptions. In return, users will get access to a range of AI-powered features, including a sidebar that allows users to interact with the AI directly from the interface of Workspace apps like Drive.
Microsoft, on the other hand, has introduced a new version of its Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, which allows users to create custom AI agents capable of automatically performing business tasks. The company is also changing its pricing model, with a paid add-on called Microsoft 365 Copilot that costs $30 per user per month.
It's worth noting that while Google is bundling AI features into its Workspace suite, Microsoft is taking a more nuanced approach, with both free and paid tiers of its Copilot AI tool.
