India's government has launched the AI Compute Portal, a significant step towards boosting the country's artificial intelligence capabilities. This portal will provide affordable access to high-performance computing resources, including advanced Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), for AI applications.
The portal is part of the IndiaAI Mission, which has allocated ₹10,300 crore to enhance AI capabilities over five years. It aims to democratize access to AI resources, support startups, and promote responsible AI development.
The AI Compute Portal will initially provide access to 10,000 GPUs, with plans to add more resources soon. To make AI resources more affordable, the portal will offer subsidized rates for startups, researchers, and enterprises. This initiative is expected to facilitate AI-driven research and application development, enabling India to become a global leader in AI innovation.
In addition to the AI Compute Portal, the government has launched other initiatives, such as AIKosha, a unified platform for datasets and AI models, and the IndiaAI Startups Global Acceleration Program, which aims to support AI startups in scaling their businesses. These initiatives demonstrate the government's commitment to promoting AI development and innovation in India.
