India is offering compute capacity for artificial intelligence (AI) at one-fifth of global prices, according to Sunil Gupta, CEO of Yotta Data Services. This significant price difference is expected to boost AI adoption in the country. Yotta Data Services claims its pricing model could be the cheapest globally, with GPU usage rates among global hyperscalers ranging up to $9-$12 per GPU hour.
Yotta has been empaneled under the India AI Mission to provide over 50% of the advanced GPU compute capacity, including more than 9,216 advanced GPUs. The company's Shakti Cloud platform delivers ultra-low latency, high-performance AI compute power to government entities, startups, and enterprises. Additionally, Yotta provides a robust sovereign cloud infrastructure to accelerate AI-driven innovation in India.
The affordable compute capacity is expected to drive innovation and growth in India's AI ecosystem. With the India AI Mission's strategic approach, the country aims to establish itself as a global leader in AI development. The mission's demand-side funding strategy enables researchers, startups, and enterprises to pay for AI services provided by the private sector, fostering a competitive and sustainable AI ecosystem. This development is poised to have a significant impact on India's AI landscape, making it an attractive destination for AI development and innovation.
