India has joined 34 other countries in signing a U.S.-led initiative to build trusted and resilient supply chains for artificial intelligence technologies at the second Pax Silica Summit in Washington. The countries endorsed the Joint Statement on AI Opportunity, which promotes international collaboration on AI infrastructure, semiconductors, critical minerals, and advanced manufacturing to strengthen global technology ecosystems.
The initiative aims to reduce vulnerabilities in AI supply chains by encouraging cooperation among trusted partners on areas such as compute capacity, chip manufacturing, energy infrastructure, and logistics. U.S. Under Secretary of State Jacob Helberg emphasized that the future of AI will depend on which nations build the most computing capacity, semiconductor capabilities, and skilled talent rather than on regulation alone.
India was represented at the summit by senior officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of External Affairs, along with industry representatives. The Indian delegation held discussions with participating nations to deepen cooperation in semiconductors, AI development, and resilient technology supply chains while exploring opportunities for investment and innovation.
India's participation strengthens its strategic partnership with the United States and other technology-focused nations while supporting its ambition to become a global hub for AI and semiconductor manufacturing. By joining the Pax Silica initiative, India seeks to attract investment, enhance technological resilience, and play a larger role in shaping secure and diversified AI supply chains for the future.
