India will host a major global event called the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi from 15th to 20th February 2026, bringing together AI leaders, policymakers, researchers, and developers from over 140 countries. The summit aims to help shape the future of artificial intelligence in ways that are inclusive, responsible, and resilient, focusing on how AI can benefit humanity, protect the environment, and drive equitable progress. The event is anchored around three guiding principles — People, Planet, and Progress — reflecting how AI should serve society.
As part of the summit, a Research Symposium on AI and its Impact will be organised, where practitioners and academics can share ideas on AI’s societal and economic effects and forge collaborations. In the lead-up to the main event, more than 300 pre-summit activities have already taken place in over 100 cities across India and internationally, promoting dialogue and awareness around AI’s transformative potential.
The summit is intended to support the democratisation of AI resources and encourage the development of solutions in key areas such as healthcare, education, and agriculture, especially for communities that may otherwise be left behind. It will act as a platform for collective action and knowledge exchange on ethical and impactful AI and is expected to highlight scalable, real-world applications of the technology.
India’s hosting of the AI Impact Summit also reflects its broader ambition to shape the international AI agenda, particularly for the Global South, by emphasising equitable development and cooperation. By showcasing homegrown innovations and fostering global partnerships, the event aims to ensure that AI contributes to inclusive and sustainable development on a global scale.
