A one-day “IndiaAI–Digital India Workshop” on artificial intelligence was held at Chintan Bhawan in Gangtok, bringing together policymakers, technologists, educators, and students to discuss AI’s transformative potential across sectors and its role in India’s digital future. The event was organized by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
The workshop served as a pre-event to the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled for 16–20 February in New Delhi, positioning Gangtok’s session as part of a nationwide series of regional engagements designed to build momentum and awareness before the central summit.
Technical sessions featured experts from academia and industry who shared insights on how AI can be applied responsibly and effectively in real-world contexts — spanning governance, public services, education, and innovation. Participants discussed both opportunities and challenges related to deploying AI in India’s tech ecosystem.
By bringing together varied stakeholders — including local technologists, students, and government officials — the workshop underscored India’s broader strategy of inclusive AI adoption and capacity building ahead of the national summit, which aims to promote responsible, scalable, and impactful AI solutions across the country.v
