IndiaAI Mission and WHO Launch Global Call for AI in Health Systems

The IndiaAI Mission, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has launched a global call for abstracts highlighting impactful and scalable applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health systems. Researchers, innovators, and institutions from across the Global South are invited to submit abstracts (maximum 250 words) capturing successful, implementable, scalable AI in health use cases by October 31, 2025. The selected projects will advance real-time deepfake detection, strengthen forensic analysis, address bias in AI models, and build robust evaluation tools for generative AI, ensuring that AI systems deployed in India are reliable, secure, and inclusive.

The IndiaAI Mission and WHO aim to strengthen responsible AI adoption and accelerate digital transformation in healthcare systems through this initiative. The selected entries will contribute to the "Casebook on AI Health Use Cases Across the Global South," which will serve as a comprehensive reference for policymakers, innovators, and researchers seeking to replicate and scale successfully implemented AI solutions across the Global South. The casebook will be launched at the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi in February 2026.

Shortlisted entries will be invited to contribute a chapter to the casebook, detailing the AI solution, deployment strategy, ethical considerations, impact achieved, and lessons learned. The submission deadline for full chapters is December 15, 2025. The IndiaAI Mission has already selected five projects under the second round of its expression of interest for the 'Safe and Trusted AI' pillar, focusing on resilience testing and bias audits to support responsible AI development and deployment.

This initiative is part of IndiaAI's "Safe and Trusted AI" pillar, aiming to ensure reliable, secure, and inclusive AI systems in India.
