India's artificial intelligence (AI) technology spending is expected to reach $10.4 billion by 2028, growing at an annualized rate of 38% from 2023. This surge is driven by a tech-savvy workforce, expanding digital infrastructure, and government-backed initiatives. The adoption of agentic AI is gaining traction in various industries, including manufacturing, retail, healthcare, and life sciences.
About 40% of Indian organizations have already implemented agentic AI, with nearly 50% planning to adopt it within the next 12 months. The technology is being used to enhance productivity, with 80% of Indian companies reporting that agentic AI boosts productivity, and 73% saying it improves decision-making.
The applications of agentic AI are diverse, with 69% of organizations using it to enhance productivity, 59% for personalized customer engagement, and 57% for risk and fraud detection. As organizations invest in enterprise automation, multilingual AI models, and agentic deployments, the industry is expected to see significant benefits.
