Indonesia is actively seeking China's support for artificial intelligence (AI) development, focusing on strengthening digital infrastructure and fostering innovation. The two countries are exploring the establishment of a joint AI innovation center in Indonesia, which would serve as a hub for AI research, development, and application in the ASEAN region.
This center aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, joint research projects, and development of cutting-edge AI solutions tailored to the Southeast Asian market. China has been instrumental in expanding connectivity across Indonesia, particularly in remote areas, through 4G and 5G technology. Indonesia is also keen to learn from China's experience in building AI-powered smart cities, leveraging expertise to drive digital transformation.
AI applications in agriculture are a key focus area, aligning with Indonesia's goal of enhancing food security. Indonesia aims to train nine million highly skilled AI professionals by 2030, supporting President Prabowo Subianto's vision of food security and digital innovation.
The country is finalizing its national AI strategy, expected to be completed in August, to attract foreign investment and guide AI development in the country. By collaborating with China, Indonesia can accelerate its AI development and become a leader in the ASEAN region. This partnership has the potential to drive innovation, improve digital infrastructure, and enhance the country's economic growth.
