The K-AI initiative is focused on leveraging AI to improve governance and public services in various areas, including health, agriculture, education, and disaster management. For instance, AI solutions can be used to forecast communicable disease outbreaks, support doctors with AI-based diagnostic systems, and detect epidemics like dengue or Nipah viruses more quickly.
In the agriculture sector, AI can be used for pest and disease prediction, crop suitability assessment, and surveillance systems. AI-based student assessment tools can help reduce school dropouts and provide early intervention for struggling students. Additionally, AI-driven systems can manage crowds in large temple pilgrim gatherings, and multi-hazard susceptibility mapping can be used to predict floods, landslides, and other risks.
The initiative also aims to support the police department with AI-powered criminal case support, data analysis, and predictive policing models. Furthermore, AI can be used in budget preparation, fraud detection, and anomaly spotting in large data sets.
By inviting proposals from innovators and startups, the Kerala government is creating a dynamic platform for co-creation and deployment of tech-driven interventions in the public sector.
