Meta is revamping its AI organization in response to concerns that it's being outpaced by rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google DeepMind. The company is reorganizing its AI org into four new groups under the umbrella of Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL).
Alexandr Wang, founder of Scale AI, has joined Meta as chief AI officer and will run TBD Labs, a new group focused on foundation models like the Llama series. The groups will concentrate on research, product integration, and infrastructure development.
Mark Zuckerberg has been personally involved in recruitment for the new group, and the changes aim to help Meta stay competitive in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. With these changes, Meta is positioning itself to drive innovation and growth in the AI space.
