New Poll Shows Tech Leaders Rushing to Deploy Agentic AI

Tech leaders are rapidly embracing agentic AI, with nearly half of respondents in a recent Ernst & Young poll having already deployed these systems within their organizations. Agentic AI refers to automation systems that can make decisions and take actions with minimal human intervention, promising to transform industries.

The poll reveals that 50% of respondents believe most of their companies' internal AI operations will be fully autonomous within two years. Additionally, 58% of tech leaders claim their organizations are ahead of the competition in AI adoption, although this might be more perception than reality.

Agentic AI can enhance business operations by automating complex workflows and improving decision-making. However, tech leaders are also concerned about data privacy and security, with 49% of respondents citing this as their top AI-related concern.

Despite fears about AI-fueled layoffs, 84% of tech leaders plan to hire more workers over the next six months as they adopt new AI tools. Over half of respondents focus on upskilling their current workforce to keep up with the AI boom.

Gartner predicts agentic AI will be a top strategic technology trend for 2025, introducing a goal-driven digital workforce that autonomously makes plans and takes actions. However, experts caution that enterprises may not be ready for this transformation, and it will require thorough integration, governance and oversight.
