Odisha’s Black Swan Summit Aims to Position State as a Global Hub for AI, FinTech and InsurTech

The Black Swan Summit India 2026, a major global event focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), financial technology (FinTech) and insurance technology (InsurTech), has begun in Bhubaneswar, with the aim of positioning Odisha as a significant destination in the global digital economy. Organised by the Government of Odisha in partnership with the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) under the BharatNetra initiative, the two‑day summit is bringing together policymakers, technology leaders, investors, academics and startups from around the world to explore how emerging technologies can drive inclusive economic growth.

The event has attracted more than 1,700 delegates from 24 countries and nearly 100 speakers across five continents, highlighting its international relevance. High‑level participation includes President Droupadi Murmu and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, underscoring the summit’s strategic importance for national and state leadership alike. Discussions are intended to go beyond technology hype and focus on practical execution of AI‑enabled digital finance, workforce development, enterprise growth and long‑term institutional capacity building.

A major focus of the summit is skill development and employment creation, particularly for youth, as Odisha seeks to align education and certification frameworks with industry needs in AI, FinTech and InsurTech. Under the broader BharatNetra initiative and the Integrated Global Financial Technology Capability Hub being developed in Bhubaneswar, thousands of students are being equipped with professional training, preparing them for careers in emerging technology sectors and helping create an ecosystem that supports startups and global capability centres.

By hosting this event and scaling up its digital infrastructure and collaborative networks, Odisha is striving not just to participate in but to shape the digital economy — turning Bhubaneswar into a globally recognised hub for innovation in AI, digital finance and advanced technology services, and demonstrating how state‑level initiatives can contribute to broader national objectives for economic transformation and global competitiveness.
