Replit CEO Says "Vibe Coding" Lets Anyone Build an App in an Afternoon

Replit's CEO, Amjad Masad, believes that anyone can build an app in an afternoon with AI, thanks to "vibe coding." This approach involves writing natural language prompts that AI turns into functional code, making it easier for non-tech users to create software. Masad says vibe coding is fueling a wave of solo entrepreneurs launching apps without engineers.

Replit, a platform that lets users build applications through AI-assisted prompts and code autocomplete tools, has seen explosive growth. Its annual recurring revenue soared from $10 million at the end of 2024 to over $100 million by mid-2025, marking a tenfold increase in under six months.

With vibe coding, solo founders can launch products quickly, focus on creativity, user experience, and innovation rather than code syntax, and build apps without extensive programming knowledge. Tools like Replit, Cursor, Bolt, and GitHub Copilot X are popular among developers and non-coders alike.

Rebecca Beach, a former UX designer, doubled her income to up to $20,000 a month selling AI-generated digital products. Pieter Levels built a flight simulator in 30 minutes with AI tools and scaled it to high revenue.

While vibe coding excels at getting new projects off the ground, it struggles with custom requirements and large-scale systems. Experts caution that critical engagement and iterative refinement are necessary for success.
