Salesforce has just signed a massive $2.5 billion, seven-year deal with Google Cloud to bring its AI agents to the platform. This partnership will enable Salesforce customers to run their Agentforce AI agents and customer relationship management software on Google Cloud, taking advantage of its extensive data analytics products.
The deal is a significant move for Salesforce, as it reduces its reliance on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and positions Google Cloud as a major infrastructure provider. Salesforce customers, including Accenture and Wayfair, are already set to move their applications to Google Cloud.
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that customers will be able to deploy critical applications on Google's AI-optimized cloud infrastructure with minimal friction. The partnership will also enable seamless integration across Salesforce and Google Cloud, accelerating AI transformations with agentic AI, state-of-the-art AI models, data analytics, and more.
This deal is also seen as a strategic move to compete against Microsoft, as Salesforce's AI strategy focuses on AI agents that can complete tasks without human supervision, requiring larger compute capacity.
