Saudi Arabia is making a significant investment in artificial intelligence with a new sustainable AI data center. NEOM, a Saudi Arabian mega-project, has partnered with DataVolt to establish the first sustainable AI data center in the country, with a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts. This massive undertaking is valued at $5 billion and will be located in Oxagon, a floating industrial city in the Red Sea.
The data center is expected to be fully sustainable, aligning with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which aims to reduce the country's reliance on oil exports and diversify its economy. This project is part of the country's efforts to become a leader in AI and data analytics.
The announcement was made at LEAP 2025, Saudi Arabia's global tech event, which has attracted over 1,800 tech brands and 680 startups. The event has also seen significant investments in AI and data centers, with Zoom announcing a $75 million investment to boost AI and innovation.
