Saudi Arabia’s rapid investment in artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape its technology economy, with HUMAIN at the center of the expansion. The company, backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is building a large AI infrastructure business around data centers and computing capacity. The scale of the investment is already creating major opportunities for local technology suppliers.
A striking example is Al Moammar Information Systems (MIS), a Saudi technology company whose shares have risen 87% this year after expanding its HUMAIN data-center project. The project has grown from an initial 50 megawatts to 250 megawatts, while the contract value has reached more than 8.76 billion Saudi riyals ($2.34 billion)—roughly seven times MIS's 2025 revenue. MIS also signed a separate agreement with HUMAIN for data-center co-location services.
The development illustrates Saudi Arabia's broader strategy of treating AI as national infrastructure rather than simply another technology sector. The Kingdom is combining sovereign investment, data centers, computing capacity and partnerships with global chip and technology companies to establish itself as a major AI hub. The strategy also fits into its broader effort to diversify the economy beyond oil and build domestic capabilities in advanced technology.
The broader takeaway is that AI infrastructure is creating wealth well beyond the companies developing AI models. Data-center operators, power providers, networking companies, semiconductor suppliers and local technology contractors can all benefit as governments compete to build national AI capacity.
