A national seminar on “AI, Law and Regulation: Shaping the Future of Education, Profession and Justice” was recently held in Chennai, bringing together leading legal experts, academicians, policymakers, and industry professionals. The event focused on how artificial intelligence is transforming the legal system, education, and governance. Experts discussed the growing role of AI in law and the need to prepare institutions for this technological shift.
The seminar featured important speakers, including Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, along with Professor C. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, and Justice Michael Wilson, former judge of the Supreme Court of Hawaii. Their discussions emphasized how AI is influencing legal education, judicial systems, and future professional practices in the field of law.
The seminar was jointly organized by the Cyril Shroff Centre for AI, Law and Regulation at Jindal Global Law School and the Centre for Justice through Technology at Vinayaka Mission’s Law School, Chennai. The sessions were divided into key themes such as emerging legal frameworks, AI governance, ethical concerns, and the role of technology in improving access to justice. Participants stressed the importance of building clear regulatory policies and interdisciplinary collaboration.
An important highlight of the event was the release of the AI Governance Report 2026, which underlined the urgent need for strong legal and ethical frameworks around AI. Overall, the seminar concluded that capacity building, policy innovation, and ethical safeguards are essential to ensure that AI strengthens rather than weakens the rule of law and justice delivery systems.
