Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka, has emphasized the need for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in governance, highlighting the importance of proper training to achieve this goal. He made these remarks while addressing the governing body sub-committee meeting of the Marri Chenna Reddy Human Resource Development Institute (MCRHRDI).
Bhatti Vikramarka expressed his desire for Telangana to be the first state in India to fully integrate AI in governance. To facilitate this, he urged MCRHRDI to provide training to all principal secretaries and village-level officials. Each department will form an AI implementation team, led by an 'AI champion' and two 'AI catalysts', who will undergo specialized AI training to deploy AI-based solutions within their departments.
The state government aims to leverage AI to improve transparency, efficiency, and accessibility of government services, fostering a more inclusive and participatory democracy. By integrating AI in governance, Telangana can become more responsive to emerging trends and incorporate AI solutions accordingly.
The initiative is part of the broader vision of 'Make AI Work for India', which aims to build AI solutions that cater to the country's specific needs, leveraging Indian academia, startups, and tech companies. By promoting digital transformation and using AI to drive insights from massive data, Telangana can progress further and achieve sustainable development.
Overall, the integration of AI in governance has the potential to transform the way governments function, making them more efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of citizens.
