The University of Kansas is hosting a weeklong event called "Falling into AI" starting on September 29, in collaboration with Google. This event aims to bring together students, staff, faculty, and healthcare professionals to explore the role of artificial intelligence in education and research.
The kickoff event will feature a keynote address by experts from Google for Education and other Google divisions, who will discuss initiatives supporting AI education and research in higher education. They will also showcase AI's potential to drive innovation across disciplines. A panel discussion and Q&A session will follow the keynote, providing insights into AI's applications and future directions.
Throughout the week, Google experts will lead breakout sessions tailored to different groups. For students, the focus will be on exploring AI career paths and opportunities. Faculty members will learn how to integrate AI into their teaching and research, while healthcare professionals will discover ways to leverage AI innovations in their fields.
Additionally, faculty and staff will host informal open houses to share their experiences with AI in various areas, such as teaching, research, and healthcare. These sessions will provide opportunities for attendees to engage with peers and learn from their expertise.
The kickoff event will take place from 1-4 pm on September 29 in the Kansas Union Woodruff Room. Registration is required, and both virtual and in-person options are available for open houses throughout the week. The event is intended for the KU community, and in-person attendees can expect giveaways.
