When asked whether tariffs cost American consumers money, it said yes, explaining that import-taxes are passed on through higher prices. These kinds of “uncomfortable truths” show that even a platform created for a particular ideological audience may not be able to fully control what its AI puts out.
The article argues that this is a structural challenge for such AI tools: large-language-model-based systems don’t automatically align with their sponsors’ narratives. They work by pattern-matching and drawing on broad datasets, which means if a user asks about a historical fact, the AI may return a standard, widely accepted answer regardless of the ideological leanings of the platform.
