U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Iran of spreading misinformation using artificial intelligence during the ongoing conflict involving the United States and its allies. He claimed that Iranian sources are circulating AI-generated images and videos to exaggerate their military success and mislead the public about events on the battlefield.
According to Trump, some of the alleged AI-generated content includes fake visuals showing attacks on U.S. military assets. For example, he said images depicting the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) burning at sea were fabricated. He also dismissed claims that Iranian forces had destroyed U.S. refuelling aircraft or damaged American ships, calling those reports false.
Trump described artificial intelligence as a “disinformation weapon” that Iran is using to manipulate public perception of the conflict. Speaking to reporters and on social media, he warned that AI-generated propaganda can make fake military actions appear real and could influence global opinion about the war.
The comments also sparked controversy because Trump criticized some U.S. media outlets for reporting what he considers misleading information about the conflict. While he claims AI-generated propaganda is being spread, some news reports note that evidence supporting these accusations has not been fully presented, and the debate highlights the growing challenge of verifying information in the age of AI-generated media.
