The UAE has taken a significant step in preparing its future generations for a rapidly changing world by introducing Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a compulsory subject in its public school curriculum. Starting from the 2025-2026 academic year, AI will be taught to students from kindergarten to Grade 12 in all public schools.
The curriculum is designed to be age-appropriate, covering a range of topics including data and algorithms, software application, and ethical awareness in AI. Students will also explore real-world AI applications, learn to design and develop innovative AI projects, and understand AI policies and their impact on society.
The UAE's Ministry of Education will provide teachers with resources, including lesson plans, activities, and templates, to support the implementation of the new curriculum. Some private schools in the UAE have already started integrating AI into their curricula, demonstrating a growing recognition of the importance of AI education.
By introducing AI education at a young age, the UAE aims to equip students with foundational AI skills and knowledge, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation. This initiative is expected to prepare students for a future where AI plays an increasingly prominent role in various industries and aspects of life.
