Worldwide IT Spending to Reach $5.43 Trillion This Year, Driven by AI Infra

Global IT spending is expected to reach $5.43 trillion in 2025, driven primarily by investments in AI infrastructure, according to Gartner. This represents a 7.9% increase from 2024, with AI-optimized servers expected to triple traditional server spending by 2027. The surge in AI infrastructure spending is largely driven by the growing demand for generative AI, which requires significant computational power and advanced data center systems.

Competitiveness is a primary reason enterprises will invest in technology and business change, with 62% of respondents identifying AI as defining the future of competition for the next 10 years. Despite geopolitical uncertainties, investments in AI-related infrastructure will continue to drive growth in the IT sector, with 61% of enterprises starting 2025 in a better position than last year.

Server sales are predicted to jump from $134 billion in 2023 to over $257 billion by 2025, driven by AI's increasing computational needs. The growth in AI infrastructure spending will be a key driver of IT spending growth, with software and services spending growth expected to slow down due to the "uncertainty pause".

Gartner's report highlights the importance of AI infrastructure in driving IT spending growth, with enterprises investing in AI-optimized servers and data center systems to stay competitive. As AI continues to play a larger role in shaping the future of industries, investments in AI infrastructure will remain a key priority for businesses looking to stay ahead of the curve.
