Reliance Plans to Build World's Largest AI Data Center in India

Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, is planning to build the world's largest AI data center in Jamnagar, India, with a massive capacity of three gigawatts. This project is expected to surpass the current largest data center, Microsoft's 600-megawatt facility in Virginia. The estimated cost of this ambitious project is between $20 billion and $30 billion.

The data center will be powered primarily by renewable energy, with an adjacent green energy complex generating solar, wind, and hydrogen power. This aligns with India's sustainability goals and Ambani's commitment to renewable energy and clean technology.

Reliance has partnered with Nvidia to acquire cutting-edge AI semiconductors, including the Blackwell AI processors, to support the data center's operations. This collaboration is part of Reliance's broader efforts to develop AI infrastructure in India, with the goal of making India a major hub for AI innovation.

The Indian government has pledged over Rs 10,000 crore to fund startups, AI projects, and large language model development, demonstrating its support for the country's growing AI ecosystem.
